Gesha from Panama is coffee royalty. The low yielding, hard-to-grow variety hit the coffee scene hard in 2004 when a washed Gesha won the Best of Panama coffee producing competition by a landslide. Coffee professionals revere the variety for it's elegant, often tea-like flavour characteristics and complexity. Since then the variety has set new records every year for the highest prices paid for coffee at auction. The current record is in the realm of $10,000 US per kilogram.
This gesha displays the classic characteristics of bergamot and apricot.
