Colombia Nicolas & Carolina Ocampo - Omni Roast
Finca La Julia hides within the mountains of the western range in the Colombian Andes and is currently managed by the second generation of the Ocampo Family. After their father passed away in 2000, siblings Nicolas and Carolina took over the production of coffee on Finca La Julia. They are committed to producing high quality coffee in an environmentally responsible way. In 2006, Finca La Julia received its Rainforest Certification for being a coffee business that demonstrates a responsibility and commitment to the preservation of the environment surrounding the farm.
This coffee is a variety of Arabica called Tabi. We understand it to have a high yield and reasonable resistance to insects and disease. We noticed Tabi varietals often have a pleasant nutty quality as well as vibrant fruity characteristics. The first Tabi we tasted was from coffee producer Pedro Trujillo. Pedro's Tabi tasted like chestnuts and ripe pears while this one tastes like sweet cashews and dragon fruit. It is a varietal that we will look to buy more of in the future as we think it has great potential both as filter and espresso.
